By transforming the conventional stairs into a 3-D network, this housing project aims to reinforce the sense of community. Residents are able to choose their best route for going back home thanks to the multi-entrance of each cluster of four buildings and then they are able to encounter their neighbors. Moreover, the stairs network brings public amenities such as laundry rooms, gym, shared kitchens, etc. up and inserts them into the housing units. These public spaces can also become a space for communication and social connection to strengthen the relationship between families.
Because of the intervention of the stairs, there are different types of spaces, which ultimately become different units stacking on top of each other to form a cluster of branches to allow families of various members to co-live together to ensure the diversity of the community that this project is aiming to create.
